The Highlands Museum & Discovery is proud to be a part of the 2014 annual Black History Celebration. Last year over 2000 people commemorated and celebrated the African American contribution to our community. We are very excited about our plans for 2014 celebration!

The schedule is as follows:
- February 4, 2014-Dr. Jefferson- Harriett Tubman and the Underground Railroad @ACTC’s Theater 12:00pm
- Black History Celebration 2014 Gospel Night: Thursday February 20 at 7 p.m. at the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center. A special performance from choirs from the Tri-State area will be featured as well as a special exhibit including paintings by local artist Jerry Johnson and a collection of antique Barbie dolls.
- A Night at the Apollo: Saturday February 22 at 7 pm in the JB Sowards Theatre on the main campus of Ashland Community and Technical College. Experience the famed Apollo Theater “Ashland style” as area residents are given the opportunity to showcase their talents in music, song, poetry, dance, and drama.
- Super Sunday: February 23 at 2:30 pm, Christ Temple Church, Lexington Avenue in Ashland Kentucky.
If you are interested in performing in Apollo Night please fill out the entry form and return it to the museum. Entry forms may be picked up at the museum, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org and request one, or you can find it on our website under Apollo Night. Please send your payment to the Highlands Museum located at 1620 Winchester Avenue along with the Apollo Night entry from.
The cost is $5.00 per act.
