Celebrate Black History

A special thanks to all who made our celebration so wonderful.

Our theme for this year is Voices from the Past to the Future. The dates, times and topics are as follows:

- Reverend Newton Bush- Freedom at a Terrible Price, February 7, 2013 at 7 pm. at Ashland Community & Technical College, J.B. Sowards Theatre. Presenter Robert Bell from Louisville is a living historian and charter member of the 12th U.S. Heavy Artillery, Reactivated, and a life member of the Camp Nelson Heritage Foundation. He is also a Chautaugua Speaker for the KY Humanities Council
- A Night at the Apollo Talent Contest, February15, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Ashland Community & Technical College, J.B. Sowards Theatre. This showcase gives amateur talent in the Tri-State a chance to share their talents in music, song, dance, poetry, comedy and drama. Entries still accepted. You can geta entry form on our website or at the museum.
- Let Your Voices Sing Gospel Night, February 28, 2013 at 7 pm. at the Highlands & Discovery Center. Gospel Night celebrates the African American music, born through the spiritual and work songs of slavery that has had a profound effect on American culture.
