Digging Deeper

Posted on September 4, 2012 by bob

Update: This interactive exhibit is now open in its new location in the Discovery Center. The exhibit has been rebuilt as an extension of the Discovery Cavern, and continues to offer children a hands-on experience in archaeological excavation and discovery. Children will dig into the simulated “soil” to uncover replicas of animal bones and other artifacts from the early human settlements of this area.

Who were the first people to inhabit this area?  Step into a time before European explorers arrived, when both animals and people shared the Ohio River Valley.  View a Native American village.  Become an archaeologist and unearth the beginnings of our community’s heritage.   Sponsored by the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels, Foundation for the Tri-State Community, DTR, Inc., and the Kentucky Historical Society.
