Michael E. Crutcher, Sr. is an actor, presenter, scholar, US Army retiree, and former Assistant Professor at UK’s Lexington Community College. This presentation shares the spirit of Frederick Douglass and his principles of freedom, equality, religion, and self-esteem.

Enjoy choirs from throughout the region as we celebrate the African American music, born through the spirituals and work songs of slavery, that has had a profound effect on American culture.
If your choir would like to participate, forms are available at the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center and must be returned by February 6th. The event is limited to 4 entrants.
A Night at the Apollo
Friday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

Since 1933, Amateur Night at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre has been a launching pad for some of the country’s entertainers. Talen discovered at the Apollo includes Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Michael Jackson and Patti LaBelle. This showcase gives amateur talent in the Tri-State a chance to share their talents in music, song, dance, poetry, comedy and drama.
Performers can pick up an entry form at the museum or print the one below. The show is for all ages, groups and individuals. There is a $5.00 entry fee. Registration ends February 24th. The show is limited to 20 entrants.
