The Highlands Museum & Discovery Center is thrilled to partner with the University of Rio Grande Athletic Department and the Ashland YMCA to present a unique learning opportunity for the region’s youth. The Highlands Games Basketball Camp with the University of Rio Grande basketball teams will take place on Wednesday, December 27 from 9am to 12pm at the YMCA located at 3232 Megan Neyer Way. This exciting free program for children in fourth through eighth grades will have sessions for both boys and girls. Camp participants will receive hands on training from the athletes and coaching staff of the Rio Grande men’s and women’s basketball programs. This activity is free and open to the public. Registration will take place at the YMCA the day of the camp and is first come, first reserved.
This program is presented by the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center as part of the Smithsonian Institution and Kentucky Humanities Council traveling exhibit “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” that will be on display in April and May 2018.
