Highlands Museum & Discovery Center is proud to host the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit called “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” April 14th through May 19th, sponsored in part by the Smithsonian Institution, Kentucky Humanities Council, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, partnering with Boyd County Public Library and the Ashland YMCA.
The exhibit features sports memorabilia from across our nation as well as community memorabilia from local tri-state high schools, colleges, and professional athletes and athletic organizations, gathered locally from our area.
The grand opening pep rally will take place on Saturday April 14th starting at 10AM and continues throughout the day, wherein we’ve invited local schools to participate with their marching bands, cheerleaders, drum lines, majorettes, and alumni outside of the museum along Winchester Avenue. Special evening and daytime events, featuring celebrity hosts from athletic organizations and teams will occur during the 6 weeks the exhibit is open to the public. Extended hours of operation (to 8pm) and reduced entrance prices ($3 for Grand Opening Day and $5 general admission for adults) round out this exciting, one in a lifetime, exhibition. The museum is still accepting participants for the Grand Opening Pep Rally for Saturday April 14th, and if interested please contact Tia at 606-329-8888 or email@example.com.
The current special events line up listed below will be updated as new events are confirmed. Please check this page often for the latest updates! Thank you!
