Yesterday…

For 25 years, the history of Eastern Kentucky has been collected and preserved by the Highlands Museum. From prehistoric artifacts to dramatic military stories and children’s discovery, the Museum keeps the chronicles of the Tri-State region.

As the caretaker of our history, the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center has a unique responsibility to pass that history on, in an environment that appeals to all ages.

Today…

What an exciting time at the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center! The museum is poised to enter a new era of discovery and heritage education for all.

Our first floor renovations are complete and renovations have now begun on the mezzanine level.

New exhibits reflect our identity as a community.

We greeted 6000 children last year through our educational and outreach programming.

Our endowment grows as contributions from supporters and private donors reach ahead to meet the needs of the museum for the next 25 years.

Tomorrow…

As you begin your personal planning for 2009, please consider a gift to our:

Annual Fund
Undesignated gifts. Donations to the Annual Fund will be used where it is needed most.

Endowment Fund
Invest in the future of the museum and provide a firm financial base for future program and staffing needs.

Carolyn Ware Collections Fund
Provides much needed equipment and support for the storage of artifacts as well as exhibit development.

Nancy R. Smith Education Fund
Provides support for the museum’s education and outreach programs.
