Museum Educator

Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate Educator to join our team. A successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging educational programs, coordinating programs and tours, and supporting community outreach initiatives. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, working closely with diverse groups including children, families, museum staff and other community organizations, while supporting our mission to create avenues of discovery for explorers of all ages.

Duties

  • Design, plan and implement educational activities that will enhance the DO!zeum experience for guests
  • Organize and staff workshops, events and outreach activities
  • Schedule, coordinate and support tours and related services
  • Develop and maintain communication with regional schools
  • Provide support in the daily operations of the Clark Family Discovery Center

Skills

  • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively with others
  • Strong customer service skills to foster positive relationships with visitors and program participants.

Hours

Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend hours for special events

Compensation

$14.00/hour plus paid vacation

Museum Attendant

We are seeking a versatile museum staff member to fill a hybrid position of janitorial, event/exhibit setup, guest admissions and Discovery Center responsibilities. These responsibilities would focus on guest experience, facility cleanliness/safety and supporting events. The Museum Attendant will support existing staff positions as needed; specific duties will vary daily.

Duties

  • Janitorial work including floors, bathrooms, fixtures, etc., throughout the facility
  • Event and exhibit setup and takedown
  • Guest relations and sales at the Admissions Desk, including phone duties, admissions/memberships/merchandise sales and birthday party scheduling
  • Monitoring families in the Clark Family Discovery Center on an as-needed basis

(This includes re-setting the play and ensuring guests follow museum rules)

Skills

  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently, solve problems and function within a flexible work environment
  • Ability to communicate well and provide customer service with a professional demeanor
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds without assistance

Hours

Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. One weekday per month would be exchanged for a Saturday shift.

Compensation

$12.00/hr plus paid vacation
